Q: Are all DODOcases the same?
A: DODOcases are manufactured from natural materials like bamboo which gives each DODOcase its own unique character and personality. As a natural wood material there will be some variation in in the grain and color of the wood in the DODOCase.
Q: Can the DODOcase be used as a stand for my iPad?
A: Yes but it depends on the surface you are working on. The DODOcase may not stand up on a highly polished or slick surface like glass. We have tested on most common surfaces and if you fold the DODOcase cover at the right angle your iPad will stand up nicely at about a 60-70 degree angle.
Q: Does the cover of the DODOcase flip over?
A: Yes, but the DODOcase has a 1 inch spine so it doesn't fold flat. The spine creates a great angle for typing on your lap. The cover feels like a book so it's comfortable when it is flipped over.
Q: How much does the DODOcase weigh?
A: The DODOcase for iPad weighs 8 ounces, while the Kindle case weighs 5.28 ounces (13% lighter than Amazon's case).
Q: What are the case dimensions?
A: 10 x 8 x 1 for the iPad, 5 1/4 x 7 7/8 x 3/4 for the Kindle
Q: How thick is the cover?
A: Approximately 3.5 millimeters. Similar to the cover of a hardback book.
Q: Does the DODOcase accommodate a headset in the headset jack while the iPad is in the case?
A: If you use Apple headphones yes, you will have access to all the buttons on the iPad and be able to insert your headset. Some third party headsets have larger or plugs that might not fit. How ever because the DODOcase is wood with a little sandpaper or sharp knife you can modify your DODOcase.
Q: Does a camera kit fit the iPad inside the case.
A: Camera kit does fit.
Q: Can you use the DODOcase with the invisible shield that covers the back and side of the iPad?
A: Any shield on the back of the iPad that raises the rear wall of the iPad appreciably will push your iPad away from the DODOcase tray. If this push is tiny, it will likely work, but if the shield has much thickness at all it may cause your iPad to not fit in the DODOcase securely.
Q: Will the DODOcase fit my 3G WiFi iPad?
A: Yes
Q: What Kindle do you support?
A. We only support the Kindle 3 at this point.
Q: Will the corner pads wear out over time?
A: Yes, over time our rubber corner pads may wear depending on usage patterns. We make replacement pads available.
Q: Is the DODOcase an 'impact' case?
A: No, the DODOcase is not designed to survive major abuse (big drops, crushing, etc). If you are looking for a tough case, we suggest you look elsewhere. That said, the DODOcase is perfect for protecting your iPad in your bag and from scratches, etc. It will provide some protection, of course, but we want you to treat your DODO well to protect from extinction.
Q: Can I get any customization of my DODOcase (embossing, lettering, different colors, etc).
A: We have customization services available for large corporate orders. Individual customization is also available starting at $99.95
Q: The bamboo wood cracked on my case. Can I fix it with glue?
A: Yes, any standard super glue will work well with the bamboo.
Q: My case is starting to wear, is this normal?
A: The exterior of your DODOcase will wear like a hard back book. It is natural that you'll start to see signs of wear as you continue to use the DODOcase. As DODOcase customers use their cases in different ways, this wear will arrive at different times. Our book binder tells us that although wear is occurring, the integrity of the cover should not be compromised.
Q: Can you include customized message with the case?
A: We don't have the capability to include custom messages yet.
Q: When did DODOcase go into production?
A: April 4, 2010
Q: Can the bookplate be moved?
A: Yes, it can be easily be removed and placed wherever customer prefers. It will not damage the case or leave any residue at all.
Shipping
Q: I live in San Francisco, can I come by and pick one up?
A: Currently, we don’t have a local pick up option. We don’t have time to break free of our production responsibilities. This will change in the future, but for today, unfortunately, the answer is no.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes, currently we charge $25 for international shipping of one unit. This may change. Just follow the standard check out procedure.
Q: Discount on shipping internationally?
A: Yes, $25 and an additional $10 per case
Q: Do we ship to PO boxes?
A: Yes. We ship USPS so delivery to PO Boxes is possible.
Q: Is there somewhere I can track the progress of my case?
A: You’ll receive a shipping notification email with USPS tracking instructions when your DODOcase ships.
Q: How do you ship?
A: We ship via US Postal Service and Fedex.
Q: Do you send an email when me order ships?
A: Yes.
Q: How long will it take to get to Europe, Asia, the moon, etc?
A: Shipping and custom times vary. We are seeing 2-5 weeks to Europe and Asia right now.
Q: What kind of box do you ship in?
A: We use a Kraft EZ Fold box identical to what Amazon uses to ship books.
Q: Can I update my shipping address?
A: Yes, you can change your shipping address up until the day it leaves our shop in preparation to be shipped.
Q: Can I change my US shipping address to an international address?
A: Yes, but you will have to pay additional shipping fees
International
Q: Will I be responsible for import duty, VAT, or other taxes outside of the US?
A: Yes. Customers with shipping addresses outside of the US are solely responsible for all duties, import taxes and brokerage fees. These are not included in the cost of shipping or handling of your order. Customs, duties, and taxes vary widely from country to country; please check with your local customs agency for details on estimated costs. Customs, duty, and taxes are non-refundable: so if you refuse a shipment because of unexpected import fees, the cost of the original shipping, any brokerage/customs/duty/taxes, and any return shipping charges will not be refunded.
Q: I am an international buyer. Will you mark my package as a gift so that I can avoid duty/VAT/import costs in my country?
A: We are sorry, but we cannot mark your package as a gift since this is unlawful and could jeopardize DODOcase's ability to continue exporting products.
Payment
Q: My card was charged, did the order ship?
A: We ship orders within 2 weeks of when we charge the order so your order will be shipping within the next 1-2 weeks. We will email you as soon as your DODOcase leaves the nest to let you know.
Q: I paid via PayPal, yet my account still says 'pending'. What is going on?
A: We 'authorize' your account the moment you order, but wait until the very last moment PayPal will allow (29 days) to 'collect' the funds. We do this to better align the collection of funds with our ship date.
Q: My credit card was stolen, how can I update my order?
A: Not to worry, if we see any problems with your order we will contact you for updated information. Often this is handled directly via your PayPal account and will get updated to us automatically.
Q: It looks like my PayPal authorization has expired, will I lose my place in line?
A: If we have trouble with your 'collection' of funds via PayPal and/or the payment authorization expires, we will reach out to you when the time comes to ship your DODOcase and ask for you to send us payment directly to 'sales@dodocase.com' including your order number in the notes or subject field.
